Energy Management

One of the major functions of the Facilities Department is the management of operations of facilities. Such operations include heating, air-conditioning, airflow/fresh air changes, plumbing and water.
The Department's Energy Management function has launched upon a multiple phase program to improve energy use efficiency in all County buildings. Phase One will upgrade lighting in a dozen major facilities. Improved efficiency will reduce County utility bills allowing the savings to pay for the upgrades in less than five years. Thereafter, all savings will accrue to the County.
Following the upgrade of lighting in other County facilites(Phase 2), the County will examine methods to further reduce energy consumption with more efficient heating and A/C equipment, window tinting to reduce solar heat gain, improved insulation and the possible use of alternative energy sources, e.g. solar and wind power.
It may take as long as ten years to complete all phases for all County facilities.
Questions can be directed to the County's Energy Manager at 913-715-1166.
